Why South East Governors Proscribed Activities Of IPOB

The Abia state govern, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has explained why the southeast governors took the decision to proscribed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB which according to him was to avert the killings of Igbos in the northern parts of the country.

The governor stated this while addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat in Umuahia, Ikpeazu who came to apologized to Abia journalists on  attack on them by the military last Tuesday said the decision was for the best interest of the zone and to avert further blood bath.

“The available statistics shows that we have about 11.5 million Igbos in the North and if you go further to take proper census by including all households you discovered that Igbos are up to 16 million, we quickly took the decision to avoid reprisal attack in the north.”

“Even the worst of wars ends up on a round table, thank God for averting what would have been a Holocaust”. He however commended president Buhari for having confidence in the south east governors by withdrawing the army from the streets of Abia.

The governor apologized to NUJ for the invasion beating up and destruction of working tools of journalists by the Nigeria army. He also commended Abia journalists for partnering with government in maintaining peace through their write up especially during the Army/ IPOB clashes

He however commended the military for owning up to the attack on journalists and coming down all the way from Enugu to apologize adding that this is one horrible hazard of journalism but prayed that such should never happened again.

He maintained that his government have done all possible to sustain made in Aba shoes adding that his government is creating three industrial hub in the state, he added that there will be made in Aba shoes exhibit in new York city, USA by next month.
