PRESS RELEASE:NUJ SOUTH EAST ELDERS FORUM
NUJ SOUTH EAST ELDERS FORUM
The NUJ South East Elders forum has observed with fixed feelings, the recent development in Enugu state council and called on the National Leadership of the Union to desist further from the alleged selling of NUJ land donated to Enugu council in 1971 by the state government.
It is disheartening, reports of percelations and illegal allocation of UNJ property to developers for Hotels, society groups and chalets other than its original purpose
It is our position that the N25 million allegedly collected by the National President of the Union, Mr. Chris Isiguzo, should be returned with immediate effect.
We condemn media attack on the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, (ECTDA) for merely helping to situate the perimeter fence to its proper place which Mr. President perceived as attempt to foil is illegal land business in Enugu council.
It is our humble request to the state government to set up panel of inquiry to unravel illegal sale of the Union land and the purpose clause of the press center as contained in the C of O.
We strongly call on the caretaker committee to rise to the occasion of protecting the Union’s property and we equally advised those parading themselves as executives of Union in Enugu state not to allow themselves to be use as an instrument for perpetrating fraud and should vacate press centre without delayed
Chief, Elder Sebastian Okafor
Chairman, NUJ South Elders Forum
