Ezeemo Advocates for Igbo Unity

From Emenike Chuks

The Leader of Progressive Peoples’ Alliance, PPA in Anambra State, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo has called for the promotion of unity, love and regional integration among the people of the South Eastern Nigeria, despite their places of domicile.

Ezeemo, who made this call while receiving a Distinguished Meritorious Service award from the Anambra State peoples’ Assembly (ASPA), Enugu State branch, at his country home, Umuchu, noted that unity among Ndigbo will help to contain any form of internal insurrection and lay solid foundation for the generations unborn.

Also thanked the Enugu branch of ASPA for the award and said that such gesture and honour will spur him to do more in the society, despite daunting economic challenges.

He however decried the attitude of injustice and dehumanising attitude which some Igbo indigenes suffer in their own land, stressing that good governance and think-home philosophy among the Igbo, are the panacea to Nigerian problems.

Earlier, the ASPA President General, Hon. Ugochukwu Okoli, who led other executive members of the Association to Umuchu said that Ezeemo was selected for the award for his contributions in poverty alleviation, job creation, philanthropy and determination for community development.

Okoli, also disclosed that the association has over 1000 registered members and 125 registered town unions from the 177 town unions in Anambra state with the sole aim of organising all Anambra indegens leaving in Enugu and as well, for the promotion of unity, selfless services among the people.

He therefore lamented that Anambra people that recede in Enugu are suffering untold hardship due to marginalisation and molestation from Enugu indigenes, who, he said, see them as a threat in the area, stressing that the association is presently erecting a Civic centre in Enugu State.
