By Larry Chuks, Enugu

Following the trial of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a traditional ruler from Enugu west senatorial zone, Dr Hafford Agana, the Igwe Eze Ugama of Olo has alerted the international community on a serious threat to the largest democracy in Africa.

Igwe Hafford Agana said the world body should as a matter of urgency called on President Mohamau Buhari to refrain from actions capable of derailing the hard earned Nigeria democracy, according to him, the Niger Delta militancy, Biafra resurgence, harsh Nigeria economy and more are the issues that should occupy the time and mind of the President instead of pursuing those that did not vote for during the 2015 general election.

His Royal Highness, Agana noted that Nigeria democracy under the leadership of Mohamadu Buhari has been facing with a precarious situation and will crash if the unforgiving spirit of the president is allowed unchecked, he stated.

He however, affirmed that since Buhari assumed office as a civilian president, it has been from one crisis to another, adding that the promises upon which Nigerians voted Buhari into power have not been realized, instead the cost of food items has gone beyond the reach of an average Nigerians.

In his words: “The power outages have become the worst in the Nigeria history. The level of unemployment, insurgency in the north east, the Niger Delta militancy, Biafra resurgence, the harsh Nigeria economy and more are the issues that should occupy the time of a president instead of pursuing those that did not vote for him during the 2015 general election” Igwe said.

“That President Buhari has lived all his life with a military reflex and as such has not acquired the necessary sportsmanship that is expected in a democracy”

“That he has a deep seated hatred against the Igbos; and this passion was reflected in the appointment into his cabinet and the lopsided 2016 budget by the federal government”

The traditional ruler also stated that the witch-hunt on Senator Ike Ekweremadu was based on the mindset of President Buhari that his government would adopt the policy of patronage and reciprocity to those that voted for him in the last presidential election and on one hand, deprivation and punishment to those who were opposed to him, he said.
