Covid-19: Philanthropist Gives Palliative To Pensioners Retirees

The Managing Director of an NGO Peace Advocacy Reconciliation Network chief Michael Uzoma Irom has given out palliative to pensioners and retirees in Abia says this group are most vulnerable now that there is lockdown and there pensions are not regular

The pensioners numbering 50 and drawn from the 21 villages in Nsirimo where happy to have been remembered in a period of this Corona Virus lockdown where hunger has increased, he gave out the following items food, money and face mask at the Amaise Nsirimo town hall in Umuahia
South LGA of Abia state,

Irom who was one time Executive Secretary of Umuahia/Ikwuano Education Authority said before now on the 1st of May he gave out food items to Nsirimo Amaise indigenes and was happy the way the people gladly accepted the gift reiterated that he was spur at the spot to do more and this time his thought went to the pensioners and retirees

He revealed that he was a teacher in Oboro in Ikwuano LGA and shortly after Abia was created in 1991 he resigned as a teacher and went into business and politics, he said because of suffering pensioners are going through especially retired teachers he decided to give out the much he has.

He further revealed that in the year 2008 he started having health challenges he pray to God and made a resolution that if he is healed he would work and sow in the vineyard of God and also help humanity and the needy he said God did it for him and he had kept his promises to God till date.

The philanthropist said his request from God was further fulfilled when one of his sons in 2017 was ordained a priest of the Catholic church. He said that all his children are self reliance and his joy is to dedicate the remaining parts of his life to serving God.

In appreciation some of the beneficiaries Ugodiye Florence Nwosu said she retired as a teacher and received her last pension since November 2018, she said since then she find it difficult to eat.

She thanked Irom for remembering them in this period of Covid 19 lockdown where it has not been easy for them and pray for Gods blessings

Speaking also Emperor James and chief John Anamba thanked Irom for the palliative adding that it will go a long way to assuage hungry among them. They also appreciated him for the communal services he often render in the community.
