Confusion as Anambra PDP holds parallel congress

The scheduled state congress of Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held at two different locations in Awka on Tuesday thereby producing two parallel sets of executives.

The confusion apparently started from the beginning when, according to reports, members of the congress committee sent by the national headquarters of the party broke into two groups.

According to Alh Abubakar Mallam, the Shettima of Gwandu, “When we arrived and couldn’t see the state congress Chairman, we went ahead to conduct both ward and local government congresses.

This, according to him, made him to head the committee. Incidentally, Edun later showed up in another location in the state where another parallel congress held.

Mallam noted, “We have submitted the results of the congresses to our national office and they have accepted them.

“Up to now, I have not seen the purported state Chairman of the congress committee. If I see him today, I can’t recognize him. And we can’t continue to wait for him.
