The Chief of Staff to Abia State governor, Chief Chijioke Nwakodo was yesterday reportedly dead at undisclosed London hospital.

The brother to the deceased Mr Obidike confirmed the report while speaking to Reformist newspaper in his family compound Umuana-Ndume in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The source said that Chijioke, 56, died of an undisclosed ailment in a London hospital, according to him, that the news of his death was communicated to the family on Thursday evening.

He said that arrangements were being made to formally convey the message of his death to the governor.

Reformist learnt that Chijioke, a father of two, “suddenly took ill barely one year after he was appointed as Chief of Staff to the governor” on June 3, 2015.
The governor since the sickness refused to appoint another chief of staff in full capacity but rather appointed deputy chief of staff who have been Manning the office.

Also he was said to have visited many hospitals in Nigeria and abroad before his death.

He was a onetime chairman of Umuahia North local government area of the state (1999 to 2002), where he was nicknamed “Zero allocation.”

When reformist visited his country home, the family members were seen receiving sympathizers.
