Foundation happy over successful host of first blind football tourney

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bina Foundation, Lady Ofeoma Atuegwu, has expressed satisfaction over the successful hosting of the African Women Blind Football in Enugu Nigeria..

The women blind football game and camping which was the first of its kind in Africa took place in Enugu from April 9 to 13.

Lady Atuegwu expressed happiness while addressing newsmen in Enugu on Sunday said that the Foundation had been hosting blind football for Nigerians since 2017 but decided to involve some other African countries such Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon in this year’s edition.

She promised that the tourney would continue to be better annually but most especially to give the blind and visual impaired some sense of belonging and incorporation.

Also speaking, the President of the Para Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Mr Chinwendu Ameobi expressed gratitude to the Foundation for hosting an African event of such magnitude, in spite of some hitches .

He further solicited for cooperate bodies, philanthropists and individuals to support BINA Fundation and most especially the blind and visual impaired.

Amobi said that the Foundation wanted to give the country a female and male team for the forthcoming Olympic games in Japan (Tokyo 2020).

“Now, we have a male team called, Star Eagles and a female team we called Star Falcons”, he said.

Star Falcons defeated African selected 2-0 during at testimonial match on the final day, with Joy Amadinkwa scoring the two goals for the Star Falcons after the interval.

The first 45th minutes ended in stalemate.
