Insecurity: Anamtbra Christians Ask for God’s Intervention

By Alphonsus Nweze

The Chairman of Christian
Association of Nigeriia (CAN), Anamtbra State chapter, Rev. Ndubuisi John, has asked Christians in the country not to be nonchalant about the insecurity in the country.
Rev. Ndubuisi gave the advice weekend during a prayer session organised by the body at the All Saints Cathedral, Lagos to pray for the rising insecurity in the county due to the activities of Fulani Herdsmen.
He said ” Christians in Nigeria should watch and pray. There should be no sleeping and if they must sleep, their two eyes must be wide open. We can’t afford to sleep. The days are evil. The signals we are getting are not palatable”.
He lamented the rising insecurity in the country perpetrated by the Fulani Herdsmen, saying that unfortunately the Federal Government seemed not to be responding to the insecurity with the corresponding challenge.
He said virtually all the states of the Federation especially Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Katsina, Sokoto , Taraba, have been under the menace of herdsmen, bandits and Boko Haram insurgents.
He said it was against this drop that they came to pray for divine intervention in the general insecurity in the country.
Rev. Ndubuisi said that the CAN in the State apart from holding this prayer session, will organise others in Ekwulobia, Nnewi and Awka.
The CAN chairman said they condemned in unmistakable term the failed RUGA programme for the Fulani Herdsmen in the country, stressing that it was not in the interest of Nigera.
But he said as Christians, they realised that God was their sure defence and therefore the need to cry to him, saying that other meaures were secondary.
In his speech, Ven. Joseph Nweke, director of Ecuminism of CAN, expressed shock that the normal Fulnanis that went about with their animals have turned another thing overnight, trying to be used as an instrument to islamise Nigeriia.
He said they now kill, main and rape women without any check by security agencies, saying this was an agenda to islamise Nigeriia but said it would not work.
He said they as Christians have no other weapon than prayer and that is why they gathered to call on the almighty God to intervene in their situation.
