The ongoing Enugu State Football Federation cup competition has reached the second semifinals as FC Stars Plus defeated Crime Busters FC 2-1 in first semifinals losers match.
In the first semifinals losers match played inside Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday, Star Plus overpowered Crime Busters FC 2-1 to pick the last slot to the second semifinals.
Meanwhile, Giant Brillars FC defeated Crime Busters 1-0 on Friday while Lamray beat Star Plus FC with the same margin on Saturday.
Gozie Makuochukwu finished off a well tailored cross with a simple jab inside the 18 yard box for Star Plus first goal in the 26th minute.
The defending champions hope of reclaiming the trophy they won in 2018 was dashed when Chikwado Chukwu beat the offside trap and doubled Star Plus lead in the 80th minute.
Crime busters substitution after the interval begins to paid off in 85th minute when Alex Oguedo reduced the tally for the defending champions.
All effort of Crime Busters to level proceeding was thwarted by Star Plus goalkeeper as he made some vital saves to preserve the club lead till full-time.
Speaking after the match, Star Plus coach Anistar Izuikem was quick to praise his players saying that they responded well to their yesterday lose.
He warned the players to be up and doing to avoid losing to Giant Brillars FC in the second semifinals match.
” You can respect them but do not fear them because this is FA cup and there are no small team.
” Giant Brillars is a debutant but they did not showed to be because they beat team to be where they are, so you have to give them the seriousness they deserved.
Meanwhile, the draws for the second semifinals stage took place today, Giant Brillars FC will battle FC Stars plus on April 16 by 10 am while, Rangers FC now comes in to face Lamray FC on April 19 by 10 am.
