Covid -19: Abia Taskforce faults Influx Of Almajiri Into The State

The Taskforce Chairman Covid19, Umuahia North LGA, Mr Oji Ahamefula has decried the influx of Almajiri into Abia state despite the lock down described the thread as dangerous and worrisome.

Ahamefule who is also the Chief of Staff to comrade Lucky Akabuike the chairman Umuahia North Local Government maintained that the influx of Northern youths suspected to be Almajiri might be Boko Harem members using the lock down to penetrate into the state.

He regretted that with intelligent report it was discovered that Fulani herdsmen have built their tent and residing with their families at Ulonna farm settlement an agrarian community located at Afugiri community in Umuahia North LGA.

He however lauded the council chairman comrade Lucky Akabuike for his prompt action in arresting the situation by alerting security officials, he noted that there have been a lot of apprehension among the villagers over the presence of the herdsmen.

Ahamefule revealed that the taskforce have been very proactive but regretted that at times security men posted to borders areas do compromise by giving room for people to come into the state.

He said those who breached the lockdown have been arrested and handed over to the court for prosecution.
