Covid-19: Abia Case rises To 87 as Ikpeazu Tests Positive
…says Coronavirus Not A Death Sentence

The Governor of Abia state Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has tested positive to Coronavirus, his first test shows that he was negative but the second test shows he was positive

The commissioner for Information Chief John Kalu stated this through a release issued in Umuahia adding that the total number of persons with the infection in the state has risen to 87

He noted that the first test conducted on the Governor by the NCDC came out negative but the second test which is the confirmatory test shows that he was positive.

The commissioner said that following the result of the second test the Governor has gone into isolation, as required by relevant NCDC protocols, and he is being managed by a competent team of medical practitioners with a view to nursing him back to good health.

Consequent on the above, the Governor has directed his Deputy, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, to act on his behalf pending his full resumption of duties.

He urged the people to take the fight against COVID-19 serious as the disease is real but not a death sentence.

Speaking from his isolation centre the governor of Abia state Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has assured the people of Abia State that he remains stable and in high spirits adding that testing positive to COVID-19 is not a death sentence.

“As your Governor, I have a responsibility to do what is right and keep our people fully updated about my health status”, the Governor stated.

He appealed to the people of the State not to panic but continue to take issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic with seriousness and take all necessary precautions in line with the protocols enunciated by the NCDC.
