Anambra Police arrests Four as popular priest defies Court order

Anambra State Police has arrested four artisan workers allegedly sent by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma of Adoration Ministry, Uke in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State for allegedly pulling down the building belonging to a widow, Mrs. Nwando Ibeleme.

Onitsha High Court presided over by Justice Victoria T. Nwoye, had restrained another Catholic priest, cousin of Mrs. Ibeleme’ s husband , Zeribe Ibeleme, his brother, Paul Ibeleme, Mr. Nwadinobi Cyril and Mr. E Umeh from tampering with property situated at No. 11 Omwudiwe Street, Onitsha.

The property belongs to Late Mr. Lawrence Ibeleme, father-in-law to Mrs Nwando Ibeleme, who is the widow of the first son of late Lawrence Ibeleme but Rev. Fr. Ibeleme and others were said to have sold the property to Rev. Fr. Obimma without the consent of Mrs. Ibeleme.

The Judge had also ordered that Rev. Fr. Obimma and the eldest surviving daughter of Late Lawrence Ibeleme, Mrs. Ekwunife IIbeto, be joined in the suit.

However, on Monday July 27, 2020,four artisan workers went to the property at No 11 Omwudiwe and removed the roof.

In the process the counsel to Mrs Ibeleme, HC Udechukwu, invited the Police from Area Command ,Onitsha who arrested four of the workers.

They have since been granted bail. Udechukwu has filed form 48, demanding that Rev. Fr. Obmma should be committed to prison for contempt of Court.

Meanwhile Mrs Ibeleme has called Governor Willie Obiano, rights groups and people of good conscience to prevail on the Rev. Fr. Ibeleme and Rev. Fr. Obimma to hand off the property of her husband.

She alleged that they have boasted they are influential both in the State and Abuja and no person including Judges can stop them.

He also alleged that there have been threat to eliminate her so that the matter will die naturally.

Mrs Ibeleme who has four children said she has not been receiving any money from any of the houses bequeathed to her and demanded that the documents of the buildings be returned to her.
