Anambra Commissioner, keke operators settle lingering rift

The lingering rift which would have marred the cordial relationship
between the State Commissioner for Transport, Hon Christian Madubuko and the Commercial Tricycle Owners and Riders Welfare Associtation of Anambra State, CTORWAAS, led by its State President comrade Sylvester Obiora, has been amicably settled.

It was gathered that the matter which was taken to the state House of Assemly was later settled out of the House of Assembly by the duo warring factions having seen themselves as partners in progress.

Making this disclosure to newsmen in his Onitsha at office, the CTORWAAS state President hinted that the crisis bothered on the name under which keke riders will operate upon, adding that it was the directive of the state government that the keke riders operate under the umbrella name of CTORWAAS pending when the name, Transport Owners Association of Nigeria,TOAN, under which they wanted to operate with, is legalised by the state government.

According to him, “the lingering crisis between the Ministry of
Transport and Keke Union officially has been settled.

It was government directive that the union operates under the umbrella name of CTORWAAS pending when TOAN will be legalised by the state government”

“Meanwhile the union will open offices for operation by 1st June 2020 and all executive members should remain status quo”

On the war against coronavirus pandemic Comrade Obiora urged his members to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the prevention of the disease as stated by the World Health Organization, WHO and the state Government.

“We plead to all keke drivers to still maintain the Anambra state and WHO regulations on Covid-19 which include, social distancing, use of face masks and regular handwashing with alcoholic based hand sanitizers”, he pleaded.
