Anambra 2021: Forget dreams of taking over Anambra – APGA tells APC

By Chinaza Nwachukwu, Onitsha

All Progressive grand Alliance, APGA in Anambra State has advised the ruling party in Nigeria, All Progressive Congress, (APC) to forget its dream of taking over Anambra State come 2021 governorship election as it has no structure on ground to defeat APGA in the State.

Giving the advice while reacting to the statement credited to Governor Yaya Belo of Kogi State in a
national television that APC will take over Edo and Ondo states in 2020 and then Anambra in 2021, an APGA chieftain and a member, Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, said that whether by conduct of free, fair and credible election or by hook or crook that APC has no such power as the state is an APGA stronghold.

“It is not possible for any political party to defeat APGA in the state in 2021 since it is an APGA stronghold even if it is by riggin the
election against APGA.”

Chief Ezeonwuka who is also the Ogirisi Igbo, (Igbo Spiritual leader)
made it clear that APC cannot take over Anambra stressing that
Governor Belo’s statement amounts to an effort to create
hope where there is no hope as APC is not popular and has no
acceptability to contest and defeat APGA in the 2021 governorship
election in Anambra.

He urged APC faithful both in the State and at the national level not to believe the statement as it was mere dream that would not come true.

“I watched Governor Belo last night in a national Television predicting
that APC will take over Edo, Ondo and then Anambra State next year. Then I begin to wonder and ask how APC would take Anambra
State? Is it by free and fair election or by rigging? Whichever way they
plan it will not work. If it is by free and fair election, I tell you that
APC doesn’t have enough adherents to match APGA at the polling booths. If it is by hook or crook, I tell you it is not going to work because Ndi Anambra are capable to resist rigging” he noted.

He repeatedly warned that any attempt to rig the 2021 race in the
state will meet strong resistance from Ogirisi powers and other
forces from the electorate in all parts of the State as according to
him Ndi Anambra remain comfortable with APGA because the party is providing dividends of democracy to the satisfaction of the people as ever, thus the State is not conducive for rigging.

He said that Governor Willie Obiano’s administration heightened the love of APGA in Anambra through water tight security services, community
development projects, prompt payment of workers’ salary,
improved development in Agriculture, Sports, among others, noting that Anambra is unlike Kogi where Governor Belo muszzled himself to second term under poor performance in all sectors of governance with backlog of salary arrears.
