Abia School Feeding Program Records Success As Over Five Thousand Pupils Enrolled.

The program manager, Abia Primary School Launch Program elder Emeka Ahuruonye has applauded Abia state government and federal government over the feeding of primary school pupils adding that in Abia state the numbers of enrolled pupils haven risen from 141thousand to 583 thousand only in 2018.
Ahuruonya stated this while interacting with Reormist reporter in his office in Umuahia, he disclosed that the program was really achieving its desired aim as the state had witnessed high number of enrolled children since the program started and also had checkmated drop out of pupils.
Ahuruonye who also doubled as the Coordinator, National Home Grown Food said both programs runs simultaneously noted that the Federal Home Grown Feeding came on board In the state on 18th May, 2017 less than a year the Abia Primary School Launch Program began.
He maintained that Abia government has now used the program to ensure one balance quality meal for public school pupils in the state and have also bridged the gap in nutritional deficiency adding also that the feeding program is most likely to be extended to private schools in the state.
Ahuruonye reiterated that on the 16th March the school launch program was introduced
and officially flagged off on 10th June, 2016, the pilot program started with 12 LGAs.and 24 primary schools and has now been scaled up in 2017 to accommodate more schools while he disclosed that the Abia Feeding Program started 13 months before the federal government Home Grown Feeding program began.
He further commended Abia first Lady, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu and described her as the bed rock of the program, adding also that through her office supplied six thousand water bottle, 243 thousand food flasks, including uniforms, sandals and exercise books to the pupils.
The school Program manager used the occasion to appealed to parents to utilize the opportunity of free launch program to send their children and wards to public schools adding that the government has started renovation of over 150 public schools and Abia also parades qualified teachers.
He finally in a special way thanked the founder Vicar Hope Foundation, Mrs Ikechi Ikpeazu, the steering committee members, ministry of Finance, Agriculture, wives of Local Government chairmen, chief Aliga, chief Eric Opia, chief Benson Ezem, vice chancellor Abia State University professor Uche Ikonne, body of permanent secretaries, Abia Poly and College of Health Aba, for their support.
