Abia Monarch Inaugurates Community Heads against Fulani Herdsmen killings

The immediate past chairman of Umuahia North traditional rulers Council Eze pastor Philip Ajomiwe has inaugurated two village heads with a mandate to ensure that the activities of Fulani herdsmen are nip in the board as youths of his community no longer sleep but moved into the forest in search of Fulani herdsmen

The traditional ruler stated this at his palace he urged the village heads of Umuchime Hon John Chimezie and Nze Sunday Chukwudiagwu of Ubaha in Oriendu autonomous community of Umuahia North to be proactive and ensure peace and unity reigns in the community.

Speaking said he was extremely glad that the villagers chose the right persons for the position adding that Nze Chukwudiagwu was the youth leader of Ubaha for sixteen years and when the people wanted him to continue he willingly stepped down saying that it was time to give others a chance.

He disclosed that this was a hard time for the community pointing that strangers ” Fulani herdsmen” have taken over most forest in their community.

“Since the herdsmen say we will not sleep themselves will murder sleep, we will curb the forest around us and ensure we drive them away, we do not want them to kill us and we also do not want to kill them, we can not continue to leave in fear “.

“They have dealt with us enough, they have personally set me back my farm lands at different occasions have been severally destroyed and now we are also afraid of our lives”.

He urged the new village heads to ensure peace reign in the community and hand over criminals to police pleading with them to bring to him matters that is beyond them.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the village head of Umuchime Nze Sunday Chukwudiagwu promise that he would not disappoint the community.

Past reiterated that he has the passion to ensure peace love and unity in his community.

The village head maintained that they have started curbing the community to fish out Fulani herdsmen reiterated that their recent influx to the state was worrisome including the destruction of farm land around the community.

Chukwudiagwu who is also the commander Hunter group of Nigeria, Abia state chapter says ” he hate evil, even if his family member misbehavior they face the consequence and his name alone put fears in the camp of robbers and evil men as he would make sure you pay for your crime”.

Speaking also the village head of Umuchime and councillor in Umuahia North LGA, Hon Onukagha John Chimezie said they would work closely with the traditional ruler to ensure peace at the community adding that they will do their best to ensure peace and unity strive in the entire Oriendu autonomous community.

Lending his voice the village head umuopara Chime Engr. David Nnorom said the community made a wise choice in the two village heads inaugurated while commended the traditional ruler Eze Philip Ajomiwe for the democratic ways the two people where chosen.
